Day-of-Event Volunteers

Below are a number of positions volunteers can hold for this year's tournament; some positions will have just one person or team, others two, three, or more at a time. Some will depend on the number of volunteers we have. You can sign up for more than one, choosing those that happen at different times, to make for a more interesting day. If interested, contact us at volunteer@brianclemens.org

Each volunteer will be given a necklace-style name tag (which will need to be returned), and a distinctive t-shirt you are encouraged to wear (yours to keep) to identify you as an official representative of the BCMGT. You are also welcome to have beverages from the drink carts and to join us for the barbecue dinner, both at no charge! And, certainly, you are welcome to buy raffle tickets and participate in any auctions!

Set-up & "Gopher"

"cheats" sales, and raffles areas; direct golfers as they arrive; and be available to do "go for" tasks while golfers are out on the course.

Check-in for Golfers

will make sure golfers are already registered and payment verified (a few may have to pay on site), give them their starting hole assignment per a list provided, and give them their name tag and rules brochure, then direct them on to next station.

"Cheats"/Premiums Sales

will sell "cheats" (a.k.a. premiums), encouraging golfers to buy the entire package rather than individual ones by explaining incentives for them to do so, and be responsible for tracking sales and handling money/making change. This is a large source of revenue going directly to the Inter-Faith Council, so positive salesmanship a real plus!

Raffle Ticket Sales

will sell raffle tickets, encouraging golfers to buy more cost-effective packets, explaining how the raffle auction works and how they can "work it" to their advantage. Will be responsible for tracking sales and handling money/making change. This is a large source of revenue going directly to the Inter-Faith Council, so positive salesmanship a real plus!

Raffle and Auction Tables Monitor

will be available where raffle items are displayed and offer assistance making sure all interested in participating in raffles understand how they work. Will also monitor that tickets and prizes are undisturbed throughout the day. (Raffles will be awarded during dinnertime.) This person may also be monitoring a small silent auction event.

Teams Photographer

will be stationed at one location and take 1-2 posed team pictures of each group as they come to that location. Experience with digital photography necessary because photos must be appropriate quality and available for posting to website.

Roaming Photographer

will walk and/or use a golf cart with driver to get pictures of action of the day, from set-up and check-in through final awards, out on the course and around the clubhouse. Will need to respect courtesy rules of cart paths, holding still and being quiet while golfers are taking shots, not casting shadows across golfers' shot, etc.

Drink Cart Attendant

can ride on drink cart with golf course staff continually through the course while golfers are playing to give players beverage options. Staff will be responsible for driving and volunteer will help with dispensing beverages. Will be responsible for respecting courtesy rules (holding still and being quiet while golfers are taking shots), and for encouraging responsible alcohol consumption where necessary (not typically an issue).

Ball Spotter

will position themselves approx. 150-180 yards from the tee area in the right or left rough, or at the outside of a "dogleg" bend on appropriate holes (The course staff will show where is best). Job is to watch each tee shot for where it lands and help search for lost balls. May also be responsible for distributing free balls to all players (sshhh! it's a secret for now).

Longest/Straightest? Drive Attendant

will record any player accomplishing longer-drive-than-previously-accomplished on designated holes and move marker appropriately as previous records broken, bringing in the recording sign after the last team has completed the hole and giving it to the scoreboard attendant.
