The game is Captain's Choice. Captains will be chosen for each team. All four players will tee off. Then the captain, with the input of the team, chooses the best shot. All players will play that shot and so on until the hole is completed. There is no rule for the order in which the players shoot. Play will be from the mallard green tees unless used to playing from the forward-most tee. A drive from each team member must be used as "best shot" at least once in the game. The Captain will make note of the initials of the player whose drive is used at each hole. The Captain is also responsible for collecting the "cheat" certificates as they are used, noting them on the scorecard, and turning them in at the end of the round.
ContestsClosest to the pin contest - The first group will place the marker at the location of the player who hits the ball closest to the hole and write the name of the player who hit the shot. Extra shots, throws, or string may not be used for this contest. Any subsequent player who hits the ball closer to the hole may move the marker to that location and sign their name. The last group will, after hitting their tee shots, collect the marker and bring it to the clubhouse for the awards ceremony. The hole numbers will be announced at the start of the tournament. Longest drive contest - The ball must land in the fairway to qualify. The first group will place the marker at the location of the ball of the player who hits the longest tee shot and write the name of the player who hit the shot. Extra shots, throws, or string may not be used for this contest. Any subsequent player who hits the ball further may move the marker to that location and sign their name. The last group will, after hitting their tee shots, collect the marker and bring it to the clubhouse for the awards ceremony. The hole numbers will be announced at the start of the tournament. |
Extra OptionsOf course, very few mistakes are ever made in golf! But in case your team makes a mistake of some kind, there are ways to cover them up...for a price. Your team may purchase cover-ups or "cheats" BEFORE play begins. Only you may use your cheats, except in the case of string. There will be incentives for buying them in groups, and an incentive for every team member to buy them! Throw the Ball Option Cost is $5.00. Limit 1 per person. Very useful, especially from sand traps or when you need to shoot between trees. Mulligan Cost is $5.00. Maximum 2 per person. Can be used for any shot. Handy when everyone hits the tee shot into the lake. 8-1/2 Inches String Option $5.00 buys 8-1/2 inches of string for one player. It may be the most valuable of all, because you have just eliminated 8-1/2 inches of complete frustration. Here's how the string works: Hit a shot within an inch of the hole? If you bought string, just put the ball in the hole and cut off 1 inch of string. Did someone hit a first shot within a foot? Combine two pieces of string and make it a hole in one! This can be great fun. Imagine the strategic challenge of deciding whether to spend your string on a 8-1/2 inch shot on the 3rd hole or trying to have some string left on 17 and 18. (Cannot be used on Hole-in-One contest) Maximum "Cheats" The greatest number of "cheats" that a person can buy is one throw, two mulligans, and one 8-1/2" length of string. They aren't transferable (except that string can be shared). So do what you can to help your team and get it all! Remember, all proceeds go to the Inter-Faith Council. |
